K5 Music (2 Semesters)
Kindergarten music is a full year course in which students meet twice a week to learn the basics of beginning level music such as reading rhythms, singing with and without other students, expressing music through movement exercises, and learning solfege singing syllables and hand signs. Students will have a Christmas program in December and will learn music for their Kindergarten Celebration in May.
1st Grade Music (2 Semesters)
1st grade music is a full year course in which students meet twice a week to learn the basics of beginning level music such as reading rhythms, singing with and without other students, expressing music through movement exercises, and learning solfege singing syllables and hand signs. Students will have a Christmas program in December and spring program in May.
2nd Grade Music (2 Semesters)
2nd grade music is a full year course in which students meet twice a week to learn the basics of beginning level music such as reading rhythms, singing with and without other students, expressing music through movement exercises, and learning solfege singing syllables and hand signs. Students will have a Christmas program in December and spring program in May.
3rd Grade Music (2 Semesters)
3rd grade music is a full year course in which students meet twice a week to learn the basics of beginning level music such as reading rhythms, learning notation, reading music notes, and playing the recorder with and without other students. Students will have a Christmas program in December and Spring program in May. There is a fee for recorders to be determined per year.
4th Grade Music (2 Semesters)
4th grade music is a full year course in which students meet twice a week to learn the basics of beginning level music such as reading rhythms, learning notation, reading music notes, and playing the recorder with and without other students. Students will have a Christmas program in December and Spring program in May.
5th Grade Music (2 Semesters)
Fifth grade choir is a year-long class that explores the basics of good vocal production through proper posture, breathing, vowel formation, intonation, tone quality, and expression. Students at this level, work to secure accurate pitch matching and unison sound before moving into two-part harmony. We will explore a variety of musical styles and other cultures through language pieces. Basic theory and sight-reading are emphasized daily. Fifth Grade Choir performs twice a year at its Christmas Concert and Spring Concert.
